Souper Sunday

I can't think of a better way to spend  Sunday than to be snuggled up with my loves. Here in Texas, it has gotten a bit chilly  (I realize that is relative in Texas) and rainy, so I thought I would make a pot of yummy soup. Naturally,  I started searching the blogisphere for inspiration.

Baked Potato Soup- my all time favorite from over at Foodie with Family!

Chicken Enchilada Soup- another favorite of mine by Damn Good Food.

Corn Chowder with Potato and Bacon From Cooking Canuck

French Onion Soup :) from Cookography

Vegetable Soup from Make Ahead Meals

White Chicken Chili over at Gourmet on the Go. This looks scrumptious!

It's hard to decided which one to make. They all look so yummy!

Happy crafting~ Marissa :)

Quick Valentine Ideas

Well Valentine's Day is coming fast and as usual I put off all the crafting and shopping until the very last second. I tell myself it's because I work better under pressure but I'm thinking that maybe it's just procrastination :)  Anyway, I usually try and get Merritt's teachers a little something for Valentines Day. This year I decided just to give a little gift card but I wanted to make it special, so here's what I came up with! I made them 5x7 so a gift card will fit perfectly in the blank space.

I like you a Latte~ add your favorite coffee house gift card! You can also get the pdf of this one here.

Valentine your on Target~ who doesn't love Target! Want the pdf- go here.

Valentine you're crafty~ add a Michael's, Hobby Lobby or Joanns card. For the PDF go here.

Valentine you're sweet~add your favorite bakery gift certificate, put a cupcake on the blank space or attach a piece of candy. For the PDF go here.

If you choose to use them for your valentines day treats, please consider becoming a follower and adding me on pintrest! As always I would be happy to email you one too. igotmilky@yahoo.com  Happy Crafting ~ Marissa :)

We're Going to the Chapel.....

Last August my brother and sister-in-law got married and I had the honor of doing all the wedding preperations! I was so psyched Leslie asked me to put it together. I really love party planning. Since this was a second wedding, the decorations and flowers needed to to elegant yet simple. Leslie choose a white and black dress and what goes better with black and white than red?  For Leslie's bouquet, I made a simple bundle and tied it with twine.
I used red  and white roses and accented with rhinestones and pearls. I think it turned out pretty great and was perfect for the dressed up- casual occasion.  On the tables I used mason jars and wrapped the top in twine and added fresh red roses. I got a pack of mirrors at Walmart and used them as "chargers".

I love the look of fresh red roses! They are gorgeous.  For the cake, I had a local bakery make a cream colored rosette cake. I love the the look of this cake and was very pleased with how it turned out.
The cake stand I got from Crate and Barrell outlet. It was originally white but I spray painted it ivory and added the black ribbon. Your can change the ribbon out for whatever occasion you need :) I thought it was pretty clever.

Cheese Enchiladas!

One of my favorite things to eat has got to be homemade enchiladas! Here is my super simple recipe:

You will need corn tortillas, cheese, enchilada sauce, oil and onions.

Next chop and saute' the onions. I like to add a tiny bit  of oil to the pan.

While the onions are cooking go ahead a add a bit of oil to a cast iron skillet and let it get hot. Add a tortilla and cook for about 10-15 seconds on each side. Basically, you want the tortillas to be ply -able and easy to work with. When you have a nice stack of tortillas, add cheese and onions and roll them up.

Top with cheese, onions and enchilada sauce. Pop them in the oven for about 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and your done! Your can top them with leftover chilli  if you want to  add meat to your meal. They are also great with a dollop of sour cream!

Enjoy~ I know I did! Marissa ;)

Layer dip

We are having a weiner roast tonight and one of my favorite dips goes great with hot dogs! It is so simple to make and if there are more ingredients you want to add, by all means! First, you will need cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, and bean dip.

Next mix your sour cream and taco seasoning. I used about 3/4 of the sour cream and about 1/2 of the taco seasoning. Just use to your family's liking.

Next spread the bean dip at the bottom of the dish.

Do the same for the sour cream mixture.

Top with cheese and serve with tortilla chips! This would also bee good with olives or tomatoes on top! We had this with out hotdogs tonight and the kids ate.it.up! There was hardly any left!  Hope you guys have a great week~ Happy Crafting~ Marissa :)

It's Pintresting.. Valentine Edition

Welcome to the Valentine Edition of It's Pintresting - which is what I've decided to call this series! I came up with the while I was blow-drying my hair on Thursday. I don't know about you, but I do some of my best thinking while I'm getting ready ha!
You can  follow me on Pintrest here.

Ok, first up this gorgeous wreath from BalancingHome.com! It is beautiful and so my style. Once I pinned it, it immediately got re-pinned like 17 times in literally  two minutes, I'm totally in love with this!
Next up this super cute Rosette topiary from The Sweet Survival,  I think it would be great on a mantel or an entryway table.
I love this next idea ~ Stuffed Paper Hearts over at The Scrap Shoppe. When I saw these i knew they would be great for adults and kids alike and the best part, she has a great tutorial.

Here is a sweet treat that would be a great kids class gift or for your little valentines at home. This is so simple and easy the kids can join the in fun or you could just let them do the whole project, either way what great memory making! These are over at The Sweet Life.
No list could be complete with out a printable. This is one of my favorites~ if you are like me, I had  a hard time choosing which one I wanted. I ended up printing two and this is one. It is over at Lolly Jane Boutique.

Last but certainly not least, I got this idea from The Craft Monkey. I am going to use my own picture because I dont want to use her child's  picture without permission. So in other words, the picture is mine but the idea is totally hers!

Happy Pinning~ Marissa :)

Valentine Charger

Just wanted to share a quick project I did last year for my niece Kendall's teacher. I used a charger I got on clearance after Christmas. I just used to "Simply Sweet" Cricut cartridge for the heart and most of the lettering. Please excuse the picture quality. Happy Crafting~ Marissa

Easy Picture Holder

The other day I had the pleasure of going to Michael's all by myself! It sure doesn't happen very often so I decided to take advantage of it. I must have spent at about 2 hours wandering up and down the isles. Since I truly discovered the blogging world, I try to find uncommon uses for ordinary things. Well, I happened upon a large clothes pin which is not so uncommon, but I guess different.  I knew I wanted to do something with it for Valentines pictures so I came up with this. Although it seems very simple, ( and it truly was) I was a great project to do with my son. We got to spend a little mother son time together.

So all you really need is a large clothes pin and some stickers!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Happy crafting~ Marissa :)

More Valentines Decor

I guess you realize by now that I really like Valentines day! This project is really easy and I think it cost me like $5 at the most. What you need is a frame (I got mine at Walmart for like $3), letters ( I used chipboard just to give it some dimension), scrapbook paper, glitter  and glue. Yours can say whatever you want, in hindsight, I should have used "kiss" or "SWAK" because when I pulled out my Valentines box today I had about five things that already said love, but oh well :) Here are a few more pictures of some of my things.

This next picture of the Valentines blocks was made by my very talented friend Stacey! She is {always} making something super CUTE!

Happy crafting~ Marissa :)

Easy Valentine Decor

Recently, I told you a little bit about where I work, but what I haven't shared yet, is one of the best things about our office: we decorate for almost every holiday. Everyone tells us how cute it is and it makes the office seem more "homey".  Each of us is responsible for her own area and its really fun to see everyone personality come out in their decor.  So here is a little peek at some of the stuff I have. I will post more pictures when I have it all ready. So for this little craft all you need is a picture frame, scrapbook paper and a valentine card.  I found the frame at Ross for $5.99; the valentines card also came from Ross  and of course the scrapbook paper I keep on hand. Just cut the paper to fit the frame and put the card in and boom~ instant art.   Happy Crafting~ marissa :)

Valentine's Day Art

The other day I was at my dear friend Denise's house and her daughter Shalyn showed me an art project she had just completed scrapbook paper and glitter~ which by the way are two of my favorite things ;) So being the copy cat that I am (with Shalyn's blessing of course) decided to make myself one for Valentines day. So basically you will need:
  1. A canvas (any cheap kind will do)
  2. Printed paper ( I like the vintage look my self)
  3. mod-podge or glue
  4. paint (optional)
  5. glitter
First, I painted around the edges of the canvas with the black paint so it would look finished, but that was just a personal choice. Next, I glue on the paper. I chose to arrange them up and down, but you could certainly make it look more like a collage. Last, I cut out a heart and slapped on some mod-podge and  glitter, added some foam squares to the back and boom~ you got some Valentine Art! Happy Crafting~ marissa :)

2012 Motto

You probably don't know this about me, but by day I am a Court Administrator for a Justice of the Peace in my area. This year was my first year in this capacity, but not the first working for this Judge. I read a post by Jamielyn at I <3 Naptime  about having a family motto. I thought it would be great if we had an office motto too. My boss is always looking to encourage and motive us and I knew once I read this post, he would {love} this idea. I ran a few ideas by him and this is the one we decided on. Feel free to print one for your team! Happy crafting ~Marissa :)

Valentine Printable

If you haven't got a chance to read my last post, it was about my goals for 2012. One of them is to {obviously} blog more! Another was to Create More! So I am proud to bring you another printable. I made it as a 16x20.

Happy Valentines day! I am going to attempt to link up to some link parties today. Wish me luck.  Happy Crafting~ Marissa :)

2012

Well it has been a while since I posted, I guess life got in the way :) Not an excuse! So this year I am going  to to do better, notice I didn't say try. I am! So anyway, I listen to this podcast called  "Positively Overcommitted" and Jackie ( I am almost sure that is her name) said she doesn't do New Years Resolution, but instead she does a list of 101 goals she wants to accomplish for the year. TRUTH! hit me like a ton of bricks. There are countless resolutions that I have made over the years and do you know how many I have actually stuck to? Not one. Yes, I said it NOT ONE! Sad~ I know. So this year I have decided that I am not going to make resolutions, but rather goals and 101 of them at that. Now let me tell you 101 goals is not easy, I only have 50 so far, but it's a working list. So what if I don't get them {all} done. If I get half, or even a forth, it is so much more than years past. I'll be sure to keep you updated on how it's going. With 15 days into 2012 I have already done about 10 of them and have bought the material for several more. One of them was to re-do my blog and I did. Hope you like the new look!  Happy Crafting~ Marissa :)
