Here is another cake stand brought to you from Mom Taxi Julie. I am going to try and convince my Niece to do a sock-hop birthday party this year!

Next up a no sew banner by Landee See, Landee Do. I did buy a sewing machine this year, but I am still intimidated to use it, so this would be perfect!

Next "Crack Potatoes" by Plain Chicken. I admit I have not made these yet, but they totally look scrumptious!

Lastly for this week a cute paper heart wreath by The Hybrid Chick. This wreath it totally my style and everyone knows I Love Paper!

More Valentines Decor

I guess you realize by now that I really like Valentines day! This project is really easy and I think it cost me like $5 at the most. What you need is a frame (I got mine at Walmart for like $3), letters ( I used chipboard just to give it some dimension), scrapbook paper,glitter  and glue. Yours can say whatever you want, in hindsight, I should have used "kiss" or "SWAK" because when I pulled out my Valentines box today I had about five things that already said love, but oh well :) Here are a few more pictures of some of my things.

Easy Valentine Decor

Recently, I told you a little bit about where I work, but what I haven't shared yet, is one of the best things about our office: we decorate for almost every holiday. Everyone tells us how cute it is and it makes the office seem more "homey".  Each of us is responsible for her own area and its really fun to see everyone personality come out in their decor.  So here is a little peek at some of the stuff I have. I will post more pictures when I have it all ready. So for this little craft all you need is a picture frame, scrapbook paper and a valentine card.  I found the frame at Ross for $5.99; the valentines card also came from Ross  and of course the scrapbook paper I keep on hand. Just cut the paper to fit the frame and put the card in and boom~ instant art.   Happy Crafting~ marissa :)

Valentine's Day Art

The other day I was at my dear friend Denise's house and her daughter Shalyn showed me an art project she had just completed scrapbook paper and glitter~ which by the way are two of my favorite things ;) So being the copy cat that I am (with Shalyn's blessing of course) decided to make myself one for Valentines day. So basically you will need:

1. A canvas (any cheap kind will do)
2. Printed paper ( I like the vintage look my self)
3. mod-podge or glue
4. paint (optional)
5. glitter

First, I painted around the edges of the canvas with the black paint so it would look finished, but that was just a personal choice. Next, I glue on the paper. I chose to arrange them up and down, but you could certainly make it look more like a collage. Last, I cut out a heart and slapped on some mod-podge and  glitter, added some foam squares to the back and boom~ you got some Valentine Art! Happy Crafting~ marissa :)

2012 Motto

You probably don't know this about me, but by day I am a Court Administrator for a Justice of the Peace in my area. This year was my first year in this capacity, but not the first working for this Judge. I read a post by Jamielyn at I <3 Naptime  about having a family motto. I thought it would be great if we had an office motto too. My boss is always looking to encourage and motive us and I knew once I read this post, he would {love} this idea. I ran a few ideas by him and this is the one we decided on. Feel free to print one for your team! Happy crafting ~Marissa :)

Valentine Printable

2012

Well it has been a while since I posted, I guess life got in the way :) Not an excuse! So this year I am going  to to do better, notice I didn't say try. I am! So anyway, I listen to this podcast called  "Positively Overcommitted" and Jackie ( I am almost sure that is her name) said she doesn't do New Years Resolution, but instead she does a list of 101 goals she wants to accomplish for the year. TRUTH! hit me like a ton of bricks. There are countless resolutions that I have made over the years and do you know how many I have actually stuck to? Not one. Yes, I said it NOT ONE! Sad~ I know. So this year I have decided that I am not going to make resolutions, but rather goals and 101 of them at that. Now let me tell you 101 goals is not easy, I only have 50 so far, but it's a working list. So what if I don't get them {all} done. If I get half, or even a forth, it is so much more than years past. I'll be sure to keep you updated on how it's going. With 15 days into 2012 I have already done about 10 of them and have bought the material for several more. One of them was to re-do my blog and I did. Hope you like the new look!  Happy Crafting~ Marissa :)

My very first Printable!

I am so excited to present...... my very first printable.  I don't know about you, but I. LOVE. PRINTABLES! They are a cheap, easy and fast way to add a little "seasoning" to your decor. First let me start by giving a shout out to Kierste @ Brown Paper Packages (which by the way was the first blog I ever bookmarked) for the link to the super cute Halloween paper that you can find HERE. Christmas in July- Part One.... The list

Well I know what you are thinking... Christmas already. I was kind of thinking the same thing , but you know its almost the middle of July right now! WOW.... this summer is going fast. (At least it is for me). I don't think there is one weekend between now and the start of school that we don't have plans. Ok ... let me get to the point..... as a crafter I like to think I am going to have ALL this time to create all these fabulous things floating around in my head, but the truth is that I will wait until the last minute and half, ok none, of the things I want to make will get made. So this year I am starting early, like right now! I have always found that a good place to start is with the list.
Challenge1: Make a list of everyone you might give a gift too. I mean like everyone you know... school teachers, mailmen, Sunday school teachers, PTA moms, coaches, etc.  Don't leave anyone out. You can always pair down the list later, but like my mama always says, better to have too much than too little. So that it is.... get going on that list.

Flower Arrangement

Here is another project we decided to do for the graduation party. For the cake and sign-in table we wanted a more elegant piece. I went to a wedding earlier this year and saw the most beautiful arrangement with hydrangeas and limes. It was delish!!!  First begin by covering a Styrofoam ball with moss.

 

Next we went a you tube and searched for flower arranging (I was kinda nervous being that this was my first attempt at floral arrangement). Anyway, one of the great suggestions on the video was to add in the big flowers first and do "fill ins" with the rest. I think it kind of looks like a little girl (lol)

 

 Last we just filled in with lots of other flowers. One tip for you: we saved all the leaves from the stems and where we needed a little filler... we just stuck it right in. I think the finished project turned out quite nice:) Happy crafting... Marissa :) 

Graduation Candy Topiary

Well its Graduation time 2011. Its the time of year that we all reflect (well at least me anyway) on how much has happened over this past school year, how much our children have grown and how our lives will be forever changed. One of my very good friends and co-workers, Denise, has a daughter graduating this year. It has kind of been an emotional year around the office because her daughter is an only child (as is mine) and we wish they just wouldn't grow up so fast :( Yes we have had PLENTY of pity parties this year..... anyway, Denise asked me to help with the Graduation party, and of course being the neurotic crafter, party organizer, helper, friend that I am I said YES! She decided she wanted to go with a "candy theme". Since I just finished my nieces' sweet treat party I had some {sweet} ideas from blogland :) This is one such idea. Basically it is a Styrofoam ball with lollipops stuck in it. One tip when creating this is make sure to use a secure base to keep it held up. I underestimated how heavy this would be when I bought materials, luckily for me my dad is a carpenter and had some scrap wood to help make the base steady. I then painted the rod, attached ribbon and put the base inside a bucket that was purchased at a local home improvement store. The cute flower shaped chargers are from Hobby Lobby and then we filled them with lifesavers! It would estimate that it took me about 30-45 minutes to do the whole thing, and the best part is it is so simple, you can watch your favorite show while doing it! Happy Crafting~marissa~

New Directions

I love notebooks! There I said it. I do. I can't help it. When I go to the store I always walk down the school supply isle and look them. I love all the cool cover designs and the crisp new pages just waiting to be filled with my ideas, thoughts, list, ramblings etc. I have anywhere from 3-10 notebooks going at one time. There is no rhyme or reason to what goes in which book, but rather a place to put thoughts down. O sure every year, I tell myself... this is the book for this year, but somehow, I always wind up with new notebook every few months or so. Ok..... so where is all this going. Well, I'll tell ya.... I want this blog to be a "notebook". Here I am free to post actual pictures of all the ideas I have floating around in my head. So here goes... for the second time :)

Merritt and I discuss nursing

The other night, Merritt and I had a discussion about how mommies make milk for their babies (our dog had puppies) It went like this...

Merritt: how do moms make milk
Me: God makes moms special so that we can feed our babies
Merritt: Where does the milk come from?
Me: well God lets mommies make milk
Merritt: I know but where does the milk come cout of?
Me: well............................... it comes from a mommies breast, that is how I fed you
Merritt: ......... that is disgusting, I think I am going to hurl!

Merritts birthday dinner

On the way home from the hockey game the other night, I told Merritt that for his birthday he could choose any place he wanted to go eat for his birthday. Before the word came out of my mouth, he siad "mc Donalds". I siad no, ANY place you want to go, like The Roadhouse, Chillis, whereever, "Mc Donalds" was his reply. "Merritt you don't understand, this is any place you want to go." Merritt says "Don't you people listen to me" I guess we will be heading to McDonalds come tuesday!

the other night we all sat down to watch "how the grinch stole Christmas" with Jim carrey. I told Merritt to come sit in my lap. He sai "nah I don't need too. I 'm not scared, I'm a man" I laughed soooooo hard!!!!!

The lights of Marshall

We recently went on a trip to Marshall Texas to see their Christmas light display. It was great!!!!! We went on a horse drawn carriage, sipped hot cocoa, and Kendall got to ride the train. It was worth seeing!

Mom has the FLU

Tonight, we went to my moms to get Kendall (mom has the FLU). I explained to Kendall that Ka-KA had the flu and she needed to stay with us so that she would not get sick. Merritt just glared at me as if in disbelief. Merritt get out of the car. But my I don't want the flu. You had the flu shot merritt, you won't get sick. Oh he said and promptly got out of the car ! I guess he thought I was sending him in to get sick.

Cheetah Girls

I got Kendall tickets to see the Cheetah girls this weekend. She is sooooo excited. That is one of her Christmas presents. I hope my mom can go with us. She has the FLU!!!!!!

"The List"

A few nights ago, we were out to dinner and were teasing Merritt by asking if he wanted us to have brother or a sister. He said no, no babies. Why not we kept prodding. Mom it's not on my list.
